Details: Rehearsal Dinner
The rehearsal dinner will be held in the Cactus Room at The Iron Cactus North.
Restaurant Reviews:
The Iron Cactus -- or should I say cacti because there are two locations is a damned good restaurant. The north location of this southwest style eaterie out near Gateway Plaza may sometimes get overlooked and I'm here to tell you that's a mistake. I dined there recently and the quality of the food was excellent. Started with the Southwestern Style Crab Cakes which were full of flavor (I'll bet you the Serrano chiles and the chipotle peppers had something to do with it) and had a very satisfying texture. The tortilla soup, featuring a rich chicken broth that elicited several ah has from yours truly was exceptionally tasty. You know immediately when you taste tortilla soup whether or not it's the real deal or some ersatz low rent knockoff..trust me. Este es verdad!
And how about the pasta dishes? The Red Pepper Linguine at $9.95 is not only a great value but great taste. Tossed with tomatillos, jalapenos, and garlic cream, this dish just delivers on all the necessary levels.
You also must try the blackened salmon tacos. Again, very fairly priced at $9.95, this dish blends blackened salmon in red and blue corn tacos with the wonderful Iron slaw. The taste is singular, and if you like salmon, you will love this entrée. Another recommendation would be the Mojo Cubano Pork Tenderloin. Oh man. Donde esta la isla de Cuba? I mean pork tenderloin is the national dish of Cuba, of course, with a mojo (or sauce) of citrus juices, soy, cumin, cilantro, and olive oil. This is a show stopper. A melt in your mouth taste extravaganza.
The Iron Cactus north location, on 10001 Stonelake Boulevard, needs your immediate attention if you are a fan of Mexican cuisine. And don't forget the downtown location as well at 606 Trinity. These cacti retain flavors that'll bring you and yours back for repeat visits.

Live music, a sophisticated bar, great décor and wonderful food! If you've been delaying a trip, the Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar removes any excuses you might have been using to stay away. This eatery and live music venue is a delight for the adult eye, ear, and palate. The menu is definitely Mexican. All dishes use fresh ingredients, even the salsas are made from scratch by an expert "salsa chef" and all the beef dishes are made with steak not ground meat. Owners Gary Manley and Mike Pottorff have achieved a casual, but sophisticated dining atmosphere, with a variety of entertainment options. Their appeal to Austin's professional crowd is evident from the restaurant's success.
